Los sobres
que se describen a continuación corresponden a la 3a. etapa de la Campaña
Antártica 2006/07 (4 de marzo al 10 de abril de 2007), y se salvaron del
incendio que se produjo a bordo del rompehielos A.R.A. "Almirante
Irizar" el 10 de abril de 2007 por encontrarse guardados en la cámara del
Comandante. La Oficina Postal de a bordo fue alcanzada por el fuego y la
correspondencia que allí se encontraba fue totalmente quemada.
The covers that
are detailed next correspond to the 3rd. step of the 20006/07 Antarctic
Campaign, and they were saved from the fire that took place on board the A.R.A.
Almirante Irizar icebreaker on April 10th. 2007, to be kept in the Commander's
camera.The Post Office on board the ship was reached by the fire and the mail
was entirely burned.

Como consecuencia que el buque polar m/v Vasiliy Golovnin no pudo realizar el reabastecimiento de la base Belgrano II durante la Campaña Antártica anterior, fue necesario contar con un rompehielos clase A para que le fuese abriendo el paso en el pack de hielos del mar de Weddell
As a result that the polar vessel Vasiliy Golovnin could not carry out the previous Antarctic Campaign the refueling of base Belgrano II due to ice conditions, it was necessary to have an A2 class icebreaker to open the passage in to the Weddell sea ice pack
